Workflows for optical Microscopy. Here we will illustrate various methods in optical microscopy which can be useful for the practising geologist and petrographer. Some of the topics are image manipulations, stacking, creating mosaics (”panoramas”), background subtraction, point-spread function and deconvolution. We will not discuss the standard methods used on a polarizing microscope because we assume that the miscoscopist, geologist, petrographer is conversant with these methods.
